What began as a day of celebration quickly turned into a tragedy in Bengaluru, as the city welcomed the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players after their historic IPL victory — 18 years in the making. However, the overwhelming turnout took a tragic turn when a sudden rush of people outside the stadium led to a deadly stampede. Chaos broke out as crowds surged uncontrollably, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals. Another 17 fans sustained injuries, several of them serious.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and ambulances transported the injured to Bowring Hospital. According to hospital sources, at least three victims remain in critical condition. Eyewitnesses reported a lack of proper crowd management and severe delays in getting help to those who had collapsed.

Many fans had gathered without valid passes, overwhelming the limited security and infrastructure around the stadium. The police have launched an inquiry into the incident, and questions are being raised about whether enough precautions were taken for such a high-profile public event.

RCB's long-awaited triumph has now been overshadowed by sorrow, leaving the city in shock.
