IPL 2025 has reached its decisive phase, with the first qualifier match scheduled tonight at 7:30 PM in Mallanpur, Chandigarh. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a direct entry into the final. While the winner secures a final berth, the losing team gets another shot in Qualifier 2 against the winner of tomorrow’s eliminator between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.

RCB, which finished second in the league standings, enters the clash with momentum but also visible cracks in its armour. Five key concerns that could derail their title hopes if not addressed swiftly.

  1. Rajat Patidar’s inconsistency: Once promising, Patidar’s form has fluctuated, making the top-order vulnerable.
    2. Unreliable middle-order: The middle-order has repeatedly failed to capitalize on strong starts, raising questions about depth.
    3. Pressure-prone bowling attack: RCB bowlers have buckled under pressure, especially in tight finishes.
    4. Lack of wickets from key spinners: Suyash and Krunal have not been effective wicket-takers, limiting mid-innings control.
    5. Overconfidence: Riding a high after a strong league stage, RCB’s confidence may border on complacency.

PBKS, aiming to enter the final for the first time since 2014, will look to exploit these weaknesses. RCB, still chasing their maiden IPL title, must play a cautious and clinical game if they hope to end a 9-year wait.
