Bengaluru-based real estate firm Adarsh Developers has filed a complaint against Amazon Web Services (AWS) and others, alleging mismanagement of its data, leading to a loss of ₹150 crore. The cybercrime police have registered a case under the IT Act, along with charges of cheating, fraud, and impersonation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the complaint by Sridhar Rajendran, Chief Human Resource Officer of Adarsh Developers, the company has been operating for 36 years, developing residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. It employs 1,800 staff members and over 10,000 laborers across 35 projects in Bengaluru, with an annual turnover of ₹2,100 crore.

The company relied on AWS cloud storage for financial and customer data. In May 2023, Saidalawi Safan, an AWS business development representative, reportedly urged Adarsh Developers to upgrade its service, assuring enhanced data security. The company adopted the new system in December 2023.

However, on January 9, 2025, at 10:48 a.m., the firm's entire data environment was erased. When contacted, implementation partner SAVIC Technologies attributed the loss to actions by individuals at Redington, an AWS vendor.

The complaint states that the data loss disrupted operations, making it impossible to collect payments, pay taxes, or manage financial records. The company estimates a loss of ₹5 crore per day, totaling ₹150 crore by January 31. Authorities are investigating the matter.
