DCP Girish Naik issues a notice to female PSI involved in this issue

Allowing time for applying makeup is seen as a lapse in duty

In a surprising turn of events, Pavitra Gowda, A1 accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, was reportedly seen wearing lipstick and makeup while in police custody. This incident has prompted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Girish Naik to issue a notice to the female Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) involved.

Pavitra Gowda, along with Darshan (accused A2) and other suspects, is currently in Parappana Agrahara Jail. The incident occurred on June 15, when Pavitra was taken by the police to her residence in RR Nagar for investigative purposes. During this visit, she was observed with makeup on, raising questions about the conduct of the escorting officer, PSI Netra from Vijayanagara.

The core of the issue lies in whether PSI Netra neglected her duty by allowing Pavitra Gowda to apply makeup during the house visit. DCP Girish Naik has demanded a satisfactory explanation from PSI Netra regarding this apparent breach of protocol.

The notice emphasizes that when an accused is taken out for investigative purposes (mahajar), they should be promptly returned without unnecessary delays or deviations. Allowing Pavitra time for personal grooming, such as applying lipstick, is seen as a lapse in duty.

This incident has sparked a debate about the standards and protocols that should be upheld by law enforcement officers during custodial investigations, especially concerning high-profile cases like that of Renukaswamy’s murder.
