  • TN fans express disappointment over early morning show restrictions
  • Tamil Nadu’s earliest screening has been set for 9 a.m.
  • Telangana, AP, Karnataka and Kerala shows will begin as early as 4 a.m.

November 14 marks the theatrical release of Siva's highly anticipated film Kanguva, starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani. While excitement surrounds the release, Tamil Nadu fans have expressed disappointment over the state's restrictions on early morning screenings. Unlike other South Indian states such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala, where shows will begin as early as 4 a.m., Tamil Nadu’s earliest screening has been set for 9 a.m.

Tamil Nadu's government granted Kanguva permission for five screenings per day, a deviation from standard screening schedules. KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green expressed gratitude on X for the special 9 a.m. slot. However, many fans were hoping for an even earlier show, with some suggesting a 7 a.m. start instead.

This restriction follows a policy shift implemented after an incident during the Pongal 2023 release season, which prompted the Tamil Nadu government to disallow early screenings for safety reasons. The government has urged theaters showing Kanguva to prioritize audience safety.

Fans’ frustration over the delayed showtimes reflects the longstanding tradition of early screenings for major star-led films in South India, often beginning at midnight. Despite the setback, excitement remains high, particularly with news that Kanguva will have a sequel. Suriya recently teased that Kanguva Part 2 is already in the works, promising fans an expansive cinematic journey.
