Initial investigations suggest a family dispute may have led to the gruesome killing, with his wife emerging as the prime suspect. Authorities are probing reports that she may have been suffering from mental health issues. The body has been sent to St. John’s Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Om Prakash, originally from Bihar, had a distinguished career in the Indian Police Service. He played a key role in probing major terror attacks in Bengaluru — including the 2013 blast near the BJP office in Malleshwaram and the 2014 Church Street blast. His service was marked by diligence and critical contributions to Karnataka’s security apparatus.
Senior police officials visited the scene and a detailed forensic investigation is underway. The tragic death of the former top cop has sent shockwaves through the police fraternity and the city at large. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
Authorities have not yet confirmed charges, but are likely to proceed with legal action following the autopsy and mental health evaluation of the accused.
