  • Replacing such stars will be a significant challenge: Shami

Indian seam bowler Mohammed Shami has started practising in the nets after a prolonged period of injury had kept him out of action. He has also had to deal with rumours on the internet which claimed that he would be getting married to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.”It is weird and pointless. It is done purposefully But it is what it is. When I open my phone, all I see are photos of myself . But I would only like to say that I think memes are made for fun, but if they are related to someone's life, then there has to be some forethought before sharing. These are shared from unverified pages with an unknown address. The anonymity gives them the scope to say what they please,” Shami said in an interaction with Shubhankar Mishra on the YouTube show ‘Unplugged.’

Shami also reacted to Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from international T-20s. “The retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from T20Is was a shock. They have been stalwarts for India, delivering outstanding performances and earning their titles as kings of white-ball cricket. Their simultaneous retirement is surprising, but it’s part of the natural cycle when one player leaves, another steps in. Replacing such stars will be a significant challenge,” Shami remarked. If and when Shami recovers from injury, the changes it would make in India’s bowling department will be interesting to watch.
