Revathi Kamath, mother of Zerodha co-founders Nikhil and Nithin Kamath, recently turned heads on social media after praising Bengaluru’s metro system, despite having received a luxury SUV from her sons just months ago.

In a recent Instagram post, Kamath shared a picture of herself clad in a pink saree inside the women’s compartment of the Namma Metro. “Travelling in the metro is so much convenient and that too in the female compartment! #nammametro,” she wrote, highlighting her appreciation for the city’s public transport.

The post drew attention for its juxtaposition with an earlier update from March 2025, when Kamath revealed that her billionaire sons had gifted her a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLS — a high-end luxury SUV worth over ₹1.5 crore. In the photo shared back then, Kamath was seen wearing a Mysuru-style peta and shalu as she received the ceremonial car keys, symbolising a traditional yet grand moment.
An environmentalist and veena player, Kamath has long promoted conscious living. Her metro post sparked widespread admiration online for embracing sustainable travel despite her access to luxury. Many users applauded her choice, calling it "grounded" and “inspiring.”
Revathi Kamath’s social media update appears to be a subtle reminder that convenience and sustainability can go hand in hand — even for those who can afford far more.
