The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) Rishi Sunak has announced that 35 million pounds will be invested for improving accessibility of cricket and increasing its outreach among diverse communities that have observed to have had a low level of participation among whom lower levels of physical activity was observed. “I love cricket, that’s no secret. So I’m pleased that today we can support even more young people to get into the game. We’re investing £35 million in grassroots cricket to help over 900,000 young people into playing cricket,’ Rishi Sunak stated in a post on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup and the 2030 Men’s T20 World cup will be hosted by England. 16 state-of-the-art all-weather cricket domes will be built outdoors within host cities across England in light of many important matches in the past being affected by rain. “I know from first-hand experience that accessing cricket from a state school is not always the easiest route into the game, so it’s fantastic to hear that today’s announcement will support state school students. I’m sure today’s announcement will help bring more young people into cricket,” England pacer James Anderson stated.
