Health officials have uncovered a shocking food safety violation in the city’s Majestic area, where several roadside eateries were found using toilet water for cooking and cleaning. The discovery has sparked public outrage and led to the immediate closure of multiple food stalls.

Authorities launched an investigation following disturbing video evidence showing a worker filling a can from a public toilet tap and using it at a juice shop. Further inspections revealed an illegal pipeline connection from a toilet tank supplying contaminated water to nearby eateries. Officials suspect vendors were attempting to evade water bills by diverting supply from borewells linked to public toilets.
Health department teams, stunned by the unhygienic conditions, immediately ordered the closure of all implicated establishments. Footage from the raid showed casual admissions from eatery staff regarding their water source, underscoring blatant neglect for hygiene.
Shockingly, this practice had reportedly been ongoing for six months, exposing thousands of commuters and residents to severe health risks. Given Majestic’s status as a major transport hub, concerns have been raised about the wider implications for public health.
Authorities have promised further inspections to prevent such practices elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is investigating the illegal pipeline connections, with potential legal action pending against those responsible.
