Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has issued a statement clarifying his non-involvement in the day-to-day operations of companies linked to a Provident Fund (PF) fraud case. Responding to an arrest warrant issued against him, Uthappa denied allegations of wrongdoing and outlined his limited role as a financial contributor.

Uthappa revealed that during 2018-19, he was appointed director of Strawberry Lenceria Pvt. Ltd., Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd., and Berryz Fashion House solely due to his financial investments in the form of loans. He asserted that his commitments as a cricketer, commentator, and presenter prevented him from participating in their daily management or executive functions.

“These companies failed to repay the loans, prompting me to initiate legal proceedings,” Uthappa shared on Instagram. He emphasized that his legal team had already responded to PF authorities with documentation proving his lack of involvement.

The controversy stems from accusations that one of the firms, Centaurus Lifestyle Brands, deducted PF contributions from employee salaries without depositing them, allegedly defrauding Rs 23 lakh. The PF Regional Commissioner issued a warrant, instructing police to take action.

Uthappa expressed confidence in resolving the matter legally. The cricketer reiterated that he resigned from all directorships years ago and remains committed to clearing his name.
