Bengaluru-based Tennis player Rohan Boppana set a record by becoming the oldest winner of a Grand Slam Trophy at the age of 43 after he triumphed in the Men’s Doubles with his partner, Australia-based Matthew Ebden against Italy-based Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori.

Bopanna’s wife Supriya Anniah and his child Thrida were also present in the venue on this occasion and posed along with him and the trophy. Bopanna talked about their support in his journey to achieve such feats. “My beautiful wife, Supriya, & my daughter, Tridha... Thank you for all the support, all the love. I know a couple years ago I sent her a video message & said ‘I’m gonna call it a day.’ Because I wasn’t winning matches at all. I went 5 months without winning a match. I thought that was gonna be the end of my journey. Perseverance inside me just kept me going. I really changed so many things & found a wonderful partner,” he said in a speech after having won the trophy. Supriya Anniah was spotted having become teary-eyed while Bopanna celebrated after having secured a win.

This marks Bopanna’s second Grand Slam. He had earlier won the mixed doubles trophy along with Canada-based Gabreila Dabrowski in the French Open in 2017.
