  • Prasidh conceded 93 runs in 20 overs
  • Mukesh Kumar replaced all-rounder Shardul Thakur
  • he's got good ability to succeed at this level: Rohit

Prasidh Krishna who made his debut in India’s first test against South Africa in the SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium left a lot to be desired in terms of his performance. He conceded 93 runs in 20 overs and bagged just one wicket. Rohit Sharma even talked about the inexperience of the bowlers getting displayed in his analysis of the innings defeat.

This led to speculations that Mukesh Kumar might replace Prasidh Krishna. Mukesh did find a place in the squad but he replaced all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Rohit Sharma backed Prasidh Krishna due to the potential he possesses for the longer format. “We've got a little bit of inexperience in our bowling, and sometimes when you have that, you've got to show some faith in them, show trust in them, and that can happen to any team. Like I said in the last post-match press-conference in Centurion about Prasidh playing his first game, we all get nervous when you are playing your first game. It's understandable, but I thought, and I'll still back that thought of mine, that he's got good ability to succeed at this level and especially in this format. So it's just about showing faith and trust in everyone and getting the job done from them,” Rohit said.

Jadeja has recovered from injury and replaced Ashwin in the squad.
