In a troubling incident at Bastian, the upscale Mumbai restaurant co-owned by Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, a luxury BMW Z4 convertible worth Rs 80 lakh was stolen from the valet parking area. The theft has raised questions about security protocols at high-end dining venues.

The owner, businessman Ruhan Khan, filed a report at the Shivaji Park Police Station after discovering his vehicle missing around 2 a.m. upon his return. According to reports, Khan had left his car in the valet's care in Bastian's basement parking area, typically assumed to be well-guarded.

CCTV footage captured two suspects arriving in a Jeep Compass, who reportedly used advanced hacking tools to bypass the BMW’s security system. One suspect then drove off in the luxury vehicle, leaving Khan in shock and prompting him to immediately check the surveillance footage, which confirmed the theft.

Mumbai police have launched an intensive investigation, reviewing additional security footage to trace the suspects’ movements. The case has been filed under Section 303(2) of the BNS Act, highlighting its seriousness.

Shilpa Shetty has not yet commented, but the incident has sparked widespread concern among Bastian’s patrons, many of whom are calling for stricter security protocols at the venue. This high-profile case sheds light on the vulnerabilities even prestigious venues can face, underscoring a growing need for enhanced safety measures in Mumbai’s luxury dining sector.
