RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has once again emphasized that leaders who cross the age of 75 should make way for others. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Bhagwat said that if someone congratulates you on turning 75, it means it is time to stop working and allow others to take up responsibilities. While he did not mention Prime Minister Narendra Modi by name, opposition parties have linked the statement to him, as Modi will turn 75 in September this year.

Reacting to Bhagwat’s remarks, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that Modi had earlier urged senior leaders like L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, and Jaswant Singh to retire. “Let us now see if Modi follows the same principle,” Raut commented.
Currently, there is no official rule in the BJP requiring retirement at a specific age. However, age limits are applied in some party positions. For example, in Chhattisgarh, BJP mandates ages 35–45 for Mandal President and 45–60 for District President roles. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP denied tickets to several senior leaders above 75, including Advani, Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, and Kalraj Mishra, signaling an informal age cap within the party.
