Addressing a press conference, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy shared a report pertaining to the costs incurred by the government for implementing the Shakti scheme. He claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had made no progress with regard to recruitment in Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and also in terms of allotment of new buses during their tenure. He also dispelled fears pertaining to delay in salary disbursement for KSRTC employees. He released a document demonstrating delays which had occurred during BJP's rule. He stated that he would request the government for more funds to be directed towards the transport ministry based on the data at hand and informed that there was no need to procure more loans in the future.
When asked about the congress MLAs' meeting with the high command, he stated that it was focused towards preparations for the Lok Sabha wherein he was confident that the party would manage to get a minimum of 20 seats. When News First Prime questioned him on the apparent discontentment amongst MLAs over not getting appointment with ministers and delay in approval of developmental plans for their constituency, he said this was not discussed in the meeting with the high command and that the discussions were more related to parliamentary affairs.
He also affirmed that plans were in place to start an Regional Transport Office (RTO) run app for autos and cabs which would have a very minimal component of profits for the government. He also announced that the elections for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) may be conducted in December, later this year.
