  • Sai Layout residents continue cleaning efforts even two days after rains
  • Relief work including food, electricity, and compensation listing is underway
  • Officials visited the area and have assured prompt support to the affected

Even though the rains have stopped, the struggle continues for residents of Sai Layout in Bengaluru. Two days after the heavy downpour, the area is still in recovery mode. Water may have receded, but the real work, cleaning homes, draining sewage pits, and restoring basic services is far from over.

Several houses were flooded due to water entering sumps and ground floors. Residents are still busy cleaning mud-soaked floors, disinfecting walls, and salvaging household items. Water is being pumped out of underground tanks, and sanitation efforts are ongoing with support from civic workers.

Power supply has now been restored in the area after a temporary shutdown. The BBMP has also arranged for breakfast distribution to affected households to support those still unable to cook at home.

Authorities have begun the process of identifying the affected families. Officials are compiling lists based on Aadhaar cards and Voter IDs to ensure transparency and targeted relief. Distribution of food grains and cash compensation is expected to begin from tomorrow.

AEE (Assistant Executive Engineer) Arpita visited the locality earlier today to assess the ground reality. She conducted an inspection of damaged houses and monitored the progress of cleaning operations. Based on her findings, guidelines have been issued for prioritizing homes with severe damage for early relief distribution.

While the rains have stopped, the emotional and financial toll on families remains high. Residents now wait for timely and adequate compensation to rebuild their lives.
