In a recent interview, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan shared his ambitious desire to remake the iconic film Sholay and play not one, but three pivotal roles in the process.
The original film, a landmark in Indian cinema, was penned by Salman's father, Salim Khan, along with Javed Akhtar, and starred Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in the lead roles.

During a conversation with filmmaker Farah Khan on Prime Video’s YouTube channel, Salman revealed his plans for the remake of Sholay, saying he would love to portray the characters of Jai, Veeru, and the infamous villain Gabbar Singh. When Farah asked him which of the two lead roles—Jai or Veeru—he would prefer, Salman confidently responded, “I can play both. Gabbar also.”
This interaction took place during the promotion of the newly released documentary series Angry Young Men, which explores the cinematic journey of Salim-Javed. The series highlights the duo’s influential work in Bollywood, having collaborated on 24 films, 22 of which became massive blockbusters.
The documentary, Angry Young Men, released on August 20, is now streaming on Prime Video. It features interviews with several Bollywood legends, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Hrithik Roshan, and Aamir Khan, offering an in-depth look at the legacy of Salim-Javed in Indian cinema.
