A leisure trip turned into a devastating tragedy as five engineering students from Bengaluru lost their lives in a drowning incident at River Cauvery’s Sangama in Ramanagara. The group, consisting of two female students and three male students, had ventured to Ramanagara for a recreational outing.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the afternoon while the students were spending time near the water body. Tragically, they were engulfed by powerful currents, leading to their untimely demise.

Upon receiving distress calls, local authorities rushed to the scene and initiated rescue operations. Despite their efforts, the students could not be saved, and their bodies were later recovered from the river.

The police have begun the process of identifying the deceased students and notifying their families. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the importance of water safety measures, particularly during recreational activities.
