Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) were defeated by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 wickets with 62 balls to spare. This was despite the fact LSG had managed to post a decent total of 165 at the end of 20 overs. LSG had earlier lost 2 quick wickets in the initial overs in the first innings. This prompted LSG captain KL Rahul and Indian all rounder Krunal Pandya to play cautiously for a period of 6 overs. Both of them however did not score in excess of 30 runs.

The pace at which the SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma scored raised concerns about whether there was a lack of intent from the top order of LSG. In a video that has now gone viral, Sanjiv Goenka, Chairperson of the RP Sanjiv- Goenka Group that owns the LSG franchise could be speaking to KL Rahul in a seemingly agitated manner. This occurred publicly resulting in mixed opinions from fans and experts. While some maintain that KL Rahul’s approach was questionable and hence deserving of scrutiny, others maintain that such dissatisfaction must not be displayed publicly given that KL Rahul plays a key role in the Indian cricketing team.
