In a significant move, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have outlawed sending heart emojis to girls on social media.

Sending these emojis in these countries is tantamount to inciting debauchery.

In case the guilt is proved, the sender will be harshly punished. He faces jail term running into several years and a fine running into several lakhs.

Gulf News quotedAl Moataz Kutbi, a member of the Anti-Fraud Association in Saudi Arabia, as saying that using “certain images and expressions during online conversations may turn into a harassment crime if a lawsuit is filed by the aggrieved party.”

In case of recidivists, the fine will only multiply, so do the jail stays.

Reports also state that sending unnecessary messages may also be deemed a crime.
