The young Saudi royal met with a life-altering car accident in London in 2005 while studying at a military college. Then only 15 years old, the prince suffered serious brain trauma and internal injuries that left him in a non-responsive state. Despite high-level medical care from experts in the US and Spain, he never regained consciousness.

After initial treatment in the UK, he was shifted to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he remained under continuous life support. His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, a prominent member of the royal family and nephew of billionaire investor Prince Al Waleed bin Talal, consistently refused to remove life support, maintaining hope in a miracle recovery. Occasionally, videos surfaced showing minor movements like the twitching of fingers, sparking brief hope among family members and supporters.

The news of his passing was confirmed by his father, who expressed deep sorrow while accepting Allah’s will. Leading religious and political figures also extended condolences to the Saudi royal family, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Funeral prayers for Prince Al Waleed will be held on Sunday, July 20, after the Asr prayer at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
