Addressing a packed audience over 1100 participants at the Security BSides Bangalore Annual Conference 2nd edition held recently in Bangalore in collaboration with World Wide Women in Cybersecurity (w3-cs) on 28th June 2024, prominent voices in cybersecurity highlighted critical challenges and strategies to combat evolving digital threats.

Distinguished chief guest Ms. Tulika Pandey, Scientist G and Group Coordinator (R&D in Cyber Security and UIDAI) at the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), She highlighted several government initiatives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the area of cyber security with incubation, financial fund support, mentorship as also opportunities with agencies for Proof of Concept under its National Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security and other initiatives.

Nabila Jamal, Editor at India Today, warned of escalating threat posed by deepfakes in media.

Sujatha Yakasiri, Founder of BSides Bangalore and W3-CS, emphasized the pivotal role of community engagement, particularly in encouraging women to take leadership roles in cybersecurity. Ashok Ratnagiri, co-founder of BSides Bangalore reiterated the commitment of the community to take the message of cybersecurity far and wide.

CxO roundtable, moderated by Dr. Subramanyeswara Rao, IPS, focused on enhancing readiness against cybercrimes and financial frauds, advocating for increased resources, stakeholder collaboration, and public awareness to bolster law enforcement's capabilities in combating digital threats.

The conference covered latest technology tracks around AI, ransomware, data protection & privacy, ZeroTrust, cloud security and many trending tech topics. It featured Leaders Speak series, panel discussions, keynotes. The event also featured interactive workshops on web3.0, mobile security, live car hacking and lockpicking etc. Exclusive track for women via (w3-cs connect1.0) launch and EmergeX- Startup Showcase were the highlights. It also hosted its traditional Cybersecurity Excellence Awards 2024.

The BSides Bangalore conference concluded with a call for collective action in cybersecurity, recognizing its pivotal role in safeguarding against evolving digital challenges. As cyber threats continue to evolve, conferences like BSides play a crucial role in equipping professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively defend against cyber threats.
