Affectionately known as “King Khan” by his fans, Khan has captivated audiences worldwide with memorable performances in films like “Pathaan,” “Don 2,” and “Om Shanti Om.”

Locarno Film Festival’s artistic director, Giona A. Nazzaro, reportedly expressed his excitement about Khan’s participation in the festival’s 77th edition, calling it “a dream come true.” Nazzaro praised Khan’s extensive and impactful career, highlighting his ability to stay connected with his audience while constantly challenging himself. “Khan is a king who has never lost touch with the audience that crowned him,” Nazzaro stated. “A true ‘people’s hero,’ sophisticated and down to earth, Shah Rukh Khan is a legend of our times.”

This recognition follows Khan’s stellar 2023, during which he released three blockbuster films: “Pathaan,” “Jawan,” and “Dunki.” “Jawan,” directed by Atlee and produced by Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, achieved unprecedented success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever, with earnings nearing $140 million.

The 77th Locarno Film Festival will run from August 7 to 17.
