The holiday on Sunday has worked wonders for Shah Rukh Khan as it managed to collect Rs 81 crore across the country. The Hindi version managed to collect Rs 72 crore making it the largest single day collection for any Hindi film. Previously the record was held by Pathaan which too featured Shahrukh Khan as the lead. Pathaan had managed to collect Rs 68 crore on the second of its release, which fell on the Republic Day.
The film also broke other records. It earned Rs 75 crore in India on day 1 making it the most grand opening for any film in India. It had also collected Rs 500 crore on a global scale within 4 days of its release making it the fastest film to get to the mark. The early trends on Monday suggest that the film would earn Rs 300 crore in India within the first 5 days of release. This would make Jawan the fastest film to get to the mark.
The film would be the 5th directorial venture for Atlee and all his films have managed to get the blockbuster tag thus far. Shahrukh Khan returned to the big screen as a lead after a gap of 5 years. Prior to that he was faced with a series of disappointments in the box office. However having reinvited himself into the avatar of someone who can pull off both action and romance, both his films have ruled over the box office and established his position as King Khan.
