Indian singer and composer Shakar Mahadevan along with tabla player Zakir Hussain won an award under the category of Best Global Music Album for the album “This Moment” in the 2024 Grammys. He penned a note on the social media platform Instagram in light of this achievement. “WE DID IT. I never imagined that a band from where I have learnt my music and my musical aesthetics would be the band with whom I would eventually perform and win a Grammy. This is the moment from which I can easily say that dreams do come true. Shakti was a dream which came true! Thank you Almighty for making this happen! It’s truly ‘THIS MOMENT,” his post mentioned. 

In the 66th edition of the Grammys which was held at the Crypto.com Arena on 5th February in Los Angeles, Shankar Mahadevan dedicated the award to his wife in his acceptance speech. “Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends and India. India, we are proud of you. Last but not the least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife, whom every note of my music is dedicated to,” he said. 

The band Shakti also consists of guitarist John Mclaughin, percussionist V Selvaganeshan and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan among others.
