Renowned filmmaker Shankar has set a new benchmark for extravagance in Indian cinema, spending an astounding ₹75 crore on just five songs in his upcoming film Game Changer. Known for his penchant for grandeur, the director has outdone even Bollywood icons like Yash Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Karan Johar in terms of sheer scale and ambition.

The political thriller, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and SJ Suryah, is one of the costliest Indian films ever made, with a reported budget of ₹500 crore. Producer Dil Raju confirmed during the trailer launch in Mumbai that the five songs required massive sets, hundreds of dancers, and extensive 10-12 day shoots each.

Shankar’s flair for lavish musical sequences isn’t new. The director made headlines in the 1990s with the song Ajooba from Jeans, shot across seven countries and the Seven Wonders of the World. At ₹2 crore, it was the most expensive Indian song at the time. More recently, Yanthara Lokapu Sundarive from his film 2.0 held the title with a staggering ₹20-crore budget.

Game Changer, Shankar’s Telugu debut, is slated for release on January 10 in five languages—Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film promises to redefine opulence in Indian cinema, with its high production values and extravagant musical sequences setting a new industry standard.
