The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination results were published on 16th April. 1016 candidates were selected from across the country. Shantappa Jademanavar from the Bellary district of Karnataka is one among them. He obtained an All India rank of 644. The astonishing aspect of this is that he wrote the examination in Kannada.

Shantappa had failed the Pre University Course (PUC) examinations on 2 occasions. But his resolve still remained firm. He is currently in the security wing of the Vidhana Sabha in the capacity of a Police sub-Inspector.

Shantappa expressed his joy in an interaction with NewsFirst. “I had failed in PUC. Passing UPSC was like touching the sky for people like me. Life is a golden opportunity. We must take a plunge, persist and win. If someone who failed PUC can pass UPSC, what is stopping all of you? Success is the property of achievers, not those who are lazy. I believe in the philosophy of Basavanna. I would prepare for the examination whenever I had a break from my duties.  This is my 3rs interview and 8th attempt. I received coaching from the Acharya Academy. Conceptual clarity helps in clearing the UPSC examination. More than administrative relationships, personal relationships are important. We should have dreams that do not let us sleep,” he said.
