Shefali Jariwala: A journey from music video icon to reality TV star

Shefali Jariwala, who passed away recently at the age of 42, rose to fame in 2002 with her debut appearance in the music video Kaanta Laga. The remix track, featuring her bold and stylish dance moves, became a massive hit and turned her into an overnight sensation. The video not only broke viewership records but also made Shefali a pop culture icon, earning her the nickname “The Kaanta Laga Girl.”

Following the success of Kaanta Laga, Shefali appeared in several music videos and made a brief appearance in the 2004 Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, which starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra. Though her screen time was limited, her popularity continued to rise.

She later found renewed fame through reality television. She became a household name with her participation in Bigg Boss 13, where her calm demeanor, confidence, and clarity in opinion earned her appreciation from viewers. Her presence in the show helped her connect with a younger generation of fans.

Shefali also appeared in dance reality show Nach Baliye Seasons 5 and 7 alongside her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, whom she married in 2015. Their chemistry and performances made them a fan-favorite couple on the show.
