Prabhas and Mohanlal also have cameos in the film

The film's pooja ceremony took place in the Kalahasti temple

Dr Rajkumar had acted as Kannappa in "Bedara Kannappa"

Producer-cum-actor Vishnu Manchu’s pan India project “Kannappa” starring Telugu superstar Prabhas and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in cameos has now roped in Sandalwood star Shiva Rajkumar as part of the ensemble cast.

The film’s pooja ceremony took place in the Kalahasti temple in Tirupati , the site wherein Kannappa was prepared to gouge out his eyes to prevent blood from leaking out of the Shiva Linga before Lord Shiva intervened and granted him “Moksha” (Salvation).

The story of Kannappa has been made into films in Telugu and Kannada in the past as well. In 1976, Rebel Star “Krishnam Raju” starred as Kannappa in the Telugu film “Bhakta Kannappa” which at itself was a remake of the Kannada film “Bedara Kannappa” that starred Dr Rajkumar (who incidentally is the father of Shiva Rajkumar) as Kannappa. Kannappa is said to be an incarnation of Arjuna who was granted a boon by lord Shiva to be born as his greatest devotee in his next life.

Mukesh Singh would be the director of the movie. The screenplay of the film has been written by Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, Burra Sai Madhav and Thota Prasad. The music for the file has been composed by Mani Sharma and Stephen Devasi. Ava Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory are the production houses that are financing this film.
