Shiva Rajkumar stands by Ramya in wake of abusive social media messages

Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar has come out in strong support of actress Ramya, condemning the derogatory language used against her in a recent social media controversy. In a joint statement with his wife Geetha, Shiva Rajkumar stressed the importance of respecting women — not just as public figures, but as individuals.

“The words used against Ramya are unacceptable. It’s wrong to speak about any woman in such a manner, and we must not tolerate it,” the statement read. Emphasising dignity and compassion, the couple noted that women should be honoured in all roles — whether as mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, or above all, as individuals.

They also voiced concern over the growing misuse of social media platforms. “Social media is a powerful tool. It should be used to uplift, not to insult or spread hatred and envy,” Shiva Rajkumar stated. The veteran actor’s statement has garnered widespread support across the Kannada film industry and from netizens.

In response, Ramya thanked Shiva Rajkumar for his unwavering support, saying, “Your solidarity means the world to me.”
