A Nazrullah, president of Janata Dal Secular’s minority wing in the Shivamogga unit has filed a complaint against Manjula Devi, a primary school teacher, who had remarked, “Go to Pakistan” towards 2 Muslim students of Class 5.
“We were shocked after the children told us about the incident. We filed a complaint with the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), and the department took action against the teacher," A Nazrullah said in an interaction with the Hindustan Times.
B Nagaraj who is the Block Education Officer for Shivamogga was in charge of the enquiry that was conducted pertaining to the issue in hand.
Other students of the class have also backed the claims of the students. The teacher was said to have been provoked by the students not paying attention to the class and talking amongst themselves during the lecture.
“This is not your country; this is the country of Hindus. You should go to Pakistan. You are our slaves forever," Nagraj claimed in an interaction with the Hindustan Times.
The teacher has been tentatively transferred from her position. A report has been submitted on the basis of the initial enquiry and further actions would be decided by senior officials.
