My son died eight years ago: Siddaramaiah

Kumaraswamy took jibe at Siddaramiah’s credentials as a lawyer

I am not justifying the act of sharing videos: Siddaramaiah

With the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate from Hassan still outside the radar of the police, the political blame game around the incident is still ongoing. The former Chief Minister of Karnataka H.D Kumaraswamy brought up the death of Rakesh Siddaramaiah, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, to point fingers at him. Rakesh died in Brussels in 2016. He questioned why Siddaramaiah did not order a probe in relation to the incident. He alleged that the government did a cover up of the incident.

Siddaramaiah lashed out at H.D Kumaraswamy over the comment. “My son died eight years ago. Connecting that incident with what is happening currently is foolishness,” he remarked.

Kumaraswamy also took a jibe at Siddaramiah’s credentials as a lawyer. Kumaraswamy remarked that his statements bring disrepute to the profession. Siddaramaiah responded to this statement as well. “Kumaraswamy stated that sharing the video is a bigger crime than rape itself. Which section is he referring to? Is it mentioned in the Indian Penal Code? Or is it something he has written? I am not justifying the act of sharing videos. But it isn’t right to say that it is a crime of bigger magnitude than the act of rape itself,” Siddaramaiaha said.
