The attack, which choked the entire nation, took place in the picturesque Baisaran meadow, just five kilometres from Pahalgam. Heavily armed terrorists opened fire on tourists, killing 26 and injuring many others. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for the massacre.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah promptly visited Kashmir, where he held meetings with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to review the situation and ensure all necessary steps are being taken. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Saudi Arabia, returned early to India to monitor the crisis. He condemned the attack and assured that the terrorists would be brought to justice, reaffirming the nation’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism.
