Krishna’s love for the game was sparked by the colorful shirts and T-shirts worn by players, but his admiration for the sport grew as he began to take it seriously while studying in Mysore. Lacking a coach, he self-trained, showcasing his determination and commitment. He represented Yuvaraja College in tennis, recalling how players would wear pants instead of shorts, which were the norm at the time.
Frank Sedgman, an Australian tennis legend, was his hero, and Krishna fondly remembered watching the US Open during his visits to America. His enthusiasm for the game was evident, sometimes watching matches through binoculars to get a closer view.
Krishna’s passion for tennis was a testament to his diverse interests. Beyond his deft political leadership, he was a true sports enthusiast, embodying the spirit of an individual competitor in both life and sport.
