Former Minister Motamma, who served under Krishna, shared insights into the program's inception during an interview. Recalling her tenure as the Minister of Women and Child Welfare, she revealed how Krishna’s deep empathy for women’s struggles led to the creation of this initiative.

Motamma recounted a conversation with Krishna where she highlighted the plight of women facing abandonment, widowhood, and financial hardship. "What should I do for them, sir? There are no schemes," she had said. Krishna, visibly moved, promised action. True to his word, he directed officials to study a similar program in another country, laying the foundation for Karnataka’s Stree Shakti Yojana.

The program offered financial assistance and resources to women, enabling them to become self-reliant. For the first time, the Women and Child Welfare Department received a dedicated grant, underscoring its importance in state governance.

Motamma fondly remembered Krishna’s unwavering commitment to women’s welfare, noting how he elevated the department’s status. His vision not only empowered countless women but also etched the Stree Shakti Yojana as a hallmark of his compassionate leadership.
