In the first glimpse, Smriti appears in a classic maroon saree featuring golden butis and an ornate zari border. Her look is completed with a large red bindi, temple jewelry, a black-beaded mangalsutra, and stacked bangles — a throwback to early 2000s TV fashion that made the original series an unforgettable cultural phenomenon.

The original show aired from 2000 to 2008 and reigned as the top-rated television serial in India for seven consecutive years. Its return marks a significant moment for the Indian TV landscape, bringing back a character that defined a generation of soap operas.

Though plans for a revival were in place nearly a decade ago, the project was postponed due to developments in Smriti Irani’s public service career. With the reboot now back on track, anticipation is building around whether the updated series will recreate the same emotional connection and popularity that defined its original run.

The new chapter of Kyunki is expected to blend tradition with a contemporary twist for today’s audience.
