The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Virat Kohli struggled to get their hands on the trophy for over 15 years. However, in the very second edition of the Women’s Premier League, RCB changed the tide in their favour under the leadership of Smriti Mandhana.

In the final held in the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the RCB team lifted the trophy for the first ever time after having defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets while chasing down the target of 114.

Smriti Mandhana’s words in the post match presentation were memorable for fans. “I am still unable to believe this. It is hard to express what I am going through. Our performance as a team was commendable. We had lost twice to Delhi Capitals in this season. However, our fortunes changed in the final. The lessons we learnt from the previous season have resulted in our victory today. We have changed our methods in accordance with victory and losses. We have structured our team according to our needs. This isn’t my victory alone, it is the team’s victory,” Smriti Mandhana said.
