  • Kadaknath chickens are found in abundance

Dhoni has recently revealed in an interview as to why he took to farming. Although the initiative had started before the pandemic, the free time at hand during the lockdown allowed him to explore this field. He has remarked that similar to cricket, farming requires constant learning and adaptation.

The Eeja farm in Ranchi is spread about 40 acres. It has been transformed from a barren land to a farming avenue that also includes aquaculture spots. The fishes reared in the farm pond supports the ecosystem of the farm.

Initially watermelons and papayas were grown on a small scale. Currently, strawberries, dragon fruits, bananas, musk melons and pineapples are also grown on the farm. Vegetables too are cultivated in the farm. Capsicums, peas, tomatoes, long yard beans, french beans, bitter gourds, bottle gourds, ash gourds, ridge gourds, pumpkin, snake gourd, zucchini, cauliflowers, cucumbers, onions and ladies fingers are some of them. Dhoni has himself remarked that the overnight growth of the ladies finger is a fascinating phenomenon and it is moments like these that have drawn him towards agriculture.

There is cattle rearing that place for dairy farming. Honeycombs are also present for the extraction of honey. Mushroom farming also takes place. Kadaknath chickens are found in abundance for poultry farming. Ducks are also seen in the ponds.
