In celebration of Mahesh Babu’s birthday on August 9, the 2001 blockbuster “Murari,” directed by Krishna Vamsi and featuring Sonali Bendre, was re-released in 4K format. The film made a remarkable return to theatres on August 9, collecting an impressive ₹5.4 crore globally on its first day.

Sonali Bendre took to social media to reminisce about her time working on the film. In a heartfelt post, she shared a video of enthusiastic fans celebrating the re-release and reflected on the joy of collaborating with Mahesh Babu and director Nandini Reddy, who was an assistant director on the film. Bendre expressed her nostalgia, stating, “Shooting Murari with @urstrulymahesh was such a joy, and finding @nandureddyy during that time was a wonderful surprise. This brings back the same warm feelings I had when the movie first came out.”

She also extended birthday wishes to Mahesh Babu and thanked fans for their continued affection towards the film, adding, “It’s incredible to see the same love for the movie even after 23 years!

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala reported that the re-release of “Murari” set a new box office record with a gross of over ₹5.4 crore on its opening day. The film’s re-release drew significant crowds, with fans flocking to theatres, including an amusing incident at Alankar Theatre in Vijayawada where a couple staged a mock wedding during the film’s wedding song “Alanati.”

Mahesh Babu is now gearing up for his next project with acclaimed director SS Rajamouli.
