Popular playback singer Sonu Nigam has responded to the Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce’s decision to temporarily ban him from Kannada cinema, refusing to issue an apology and instead expressing his affection for Karnataka and its people.

In a heartfelt social media post, the 51-year-old singer stated that while he accepts the ban, he believes the people of Karnataka are capable of judging what is right or wrong. Nigam emphasized his deep respect for Kannada music, asserting that he has consistently given more attention to Kannada songs than even to his Hindi repertoire.
Recounting an incident at a recent Bengaluru event, Nigam claimed he was intimidated by a young individual during his performance. Nigam stated that he attempted to handle the situation peacefully to ensure the program continued as planned.
Nigam reiterated his stance against promoting hatred based on language, religion, or caste, adding that his intention was to maintain harmony. “Let the wise Kannadigas decide who was in the wrong,” he said, affirming his trust in Karnataka’s legal system and pledging full cooperation.

Despite the controversy, the singer ended on a reconciliatory note, expressing gratitude for the love he has received from Karnataka and vowing to carry no bitterness, regardless of the final judgment. In the latest development, Sonu Nigam has been summoned by Bengaluru Police for questioning in the case.
