  • Sai Kishore cleans up the tail
  • South zone wins by 75 runs
  • Kaverappa wins man of the match, series awards

When the west zone started the day with 182/5 on the board needing 116 runs to win, with captain Priyank Panchaul still unbeaten on 92, it could have been anybody’s game, but the captain very shortly nicked a ball from the star of the moment, Kaverappa to the keeper returning the advantage to South Zone. Medium pacer Vasuki Koushik also chipped with another wicket exposing the tail who were of no match to spinner Sai Kishore who cleared them up to hand the South Zone a well earned 75 run win.

Vidhwath Kaverappa was adjudged man of the match for his invaluable contribution of 8 wickets and man of the series for finishing second in the wicket takers list with 15 wickets. This can be seen as a redemption from the previous year’s results when the same 2 teams clashed in the finals but the west zone managed a comprehensive 294 run victory at the back on the back of a fantastic double century from Yashaswi Jaiswal. The young star was however unavailable for this edition as he was making his international debut against West Indies where he left everyone impressed with a match winning century that earned him the man of the match title.
