Elon Musk's SpaceX is on the brink of revolutionizing global travel with a bold proposal to transport passengers between major cities in under an hour. Central to this ambitious plan is the Starship, a 395-foot stainless steel spacecraft capable of traveling at unprecedented speeds.

Musk, who will head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, has announced that his vision of "Earth to Earth" travel is now feasible following Donald Trump's re-election. Originally conceived by SpaceX nearly a decade ago, the project aims to carry up to 1,000 passengers aboard Starship, the world’s most powerful rocket, on suborbital flights that skirt Earth’s atmosphere.

Rather than venturing into deep space, the Starship would fly “parallel” to Earth, gliding across the planet's surface to reach distant cities. For instance, the spacecraft could complete a journey from Los Angeles to Toronto in just 24 minutes, London to New York in 29 minutes, Delhi to San Francisco in 40 minutes, and New York to Shanghai in 39 minutes.

While the technology promises extreme speed, passengers would experience intense G-forces during liftoff and landing, and low gravity conditions mid-flight would require seatbelts to be kept fastened.

The concept gained further attention after a social media post speculated that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) might approve the project under a potential second Trump administration, a claim Musk later confirmed.
