₹10 lakh each for Blind Women’s T20 World Cup champions: Hebbalkar announces at NewsFirst’s ‘Mahila Manikya’ event

At NewsFirst’s ‘Mahila Manikya’ event in Bengaluru, Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar reaffirmed that every member of the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup-winning Indian team will receive ₹10 lakh, while three players from Karnataka will also be given government jobs.

Members of the Indian team that won the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup were honoured during NewsFirst’s special programme ‘Mahila Manikya’ held in Bengaluru. The event recognised women achievers who have made the nation proud through their accomplishments.

During the programme, team captain Deepika, who led India to the historic title victory, was felicitated for her leadership and contribution to the team’s success.

India had lifted the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup trophy last November, marking a historic achievement for the country and for women’s cricket in the visually impaired sports category.

Speaking at the event, Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar reiterated the Karnataka government’s decision to reward the players.

She announced that each member of the Indian team that won the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup will receive a cash prize of ₹10 lakh from the Karnataka government.

The minister stated that the proposal has already received approval from the Finance Department, and the necessary files have been forwarded to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is currently handling the sports department.

Hebbalkar said the process is in its final stage and that the players will soon be officially recognised by the state leadership.

She informed that within the next 15 to 20 days, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will invite the players to his office and personally felicitate and congratulate them for their achievement.

The minister added that she has taken responsibility to ensure that the felicitation ceremony is organised soon.

The minister also highlighted that three players from Karnataka were part of the Indian squad that won the World Cup.
She assured that the state government will provide government jobs to these three players who represented the country in the tournament.

Among them is captain Deepika, who was honoured during the Mahila Manikya programme for guiding India to the title victory.
