After India’s women’s cricket team clinched their maiden World Cup title with a remarkable win over South Africa, the BCCI announced a ₹51 crore cash reward to celebrate the landmark victory.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of ₹51 crore for the Indian women’s cricket team after their historic victory in the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, lifting their first-ever World Cup title.

This momentous win ended India’s long wait for a major ICC trophy in women’s cricket. The team had earlier reached the finals in 2005 and 2017, but fell short both times. However, 2025 turned out to be their redemption year as they finally brought home the coveted trophy in front of an electrified home crowd.

The ₹51 crore cash prize announced by BCCI surpasses the official ICC prize money of USD 4.48 million (approximately ₹39.78 crore), reflecting the board’s desire to recognise the team’s extraordinary achievement. BCCI officials said the decision was made to show the board’s appreciation for the team’s hard work, resilience, and dominance throughout the tournament.

In the final clash, South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first. India, however, responded strongly, posting 298 runs on the board, thanks to an outstanding 87-run innings from opener Shafali Verma. The Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt fought valiantly with a brilliant century, but her effort went in vain as India’s bowlers took control in the second innings.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma’s five-wicket haul turned the game in India’s favour, while Shafali Verma also impressed with two key wickets, sealing her spot as the Player of the Match. The team’s clinical performance across batting, bowling, and fielding helped them secure a comfortable 52-run win and script history for Indian cricket.
