KOA extends ₹1 lakh support to para athlete Gangavva Neelappa for advanced training

The Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA), affiliated to the Indian Olympic Association, has extended financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to para athlete Ms. Gangavva Neelappa Harijana from Shiggaon Taluk in Haveri district to support her continued training and competitive journey.

According to an official communication dated March 3, 2026, issued under reference KOA/Financial Assistance/2026, the association sanctioned the amount in recognition of her consistent participation in national and international para athletic championships.

Gangavva Neelappa has represented in multiple para athletic events and has secured several medals in her career. In addition to athletics, she has also participated in the Blind World Cricket Championship, further highlighting her sporting achievements at competitive levels.

The financial assistance was formally handed over by KOA President Dr. K. Govindaraj, MLC, who presented a cheque of ₹1 lakh to the athlete. The support has been specifically earmarked to help her pursue further training programmes and prepare for upcoming competitions.
