Weather forecasts warn of heavy rain and thunderstorms during the much-awaited India-Pakistan match in Colombo on February 15, raising fears of interruptions or even abandonment.
The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 is facing a serious weather challenge, with forecasts predicting heavy rain on match day. The match is scheduled to be played on February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
According to weather department updates, Colombo is expected to witness overcast skies throughout the day, with a high possibility of thunderstorms and rainfall during match hours. The probability of rain is estimated to range between 50% and 60%, raising concerns over delays, reduced overs, or even a washout.
Meteorologists have also warned that rain intensity may increase in the evening, exactly when the match is set to be played. This could impact critical elements such as the toss, over reductions, and overall match flow. In addition, high humidity levels are expected, which could pose physical challenges for players from both sides.

If rain forces the match to be abandoned or curtailed beyond regulation limits, points will be shared between the two teams as per tournament rules. Fans, however, are hoping for at least a minimum five-over contest, which is required to constitute a valid T20 match.
In case of rainfall, moisture on the pitch is likely to increase, offering additional assistance to fast bowlers. Any interruption during play could also bring the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method into play, significantly influencing match strategies and outcomes.
