Shikhar Dhawan set for second marriage, to tie the knot with Sophie Shine in February

Former India opener to marry longtime partner; Ceremony planned in Delhi-NCR with close family and friends

Former Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan has once again become a topic of public interest, as reports confirm that he is set to marry for the second time. Popularly known as “Gabbar” among fans, Dhawan will soon begin a new chapter in his personal life by tying the knot with his longtime partner, Sophie Shine, who is of Irish origin.

The couple has been in a relationship for a considerable period and has now decided to take their relationship forward. Though they largely maintained privacy in the initial stages, their appearances together over the past year gradually brought their relationship into the public eye.

Speculation around their relationship first gained attention in 2025, when Dhawan and Sophie were spotted together in Dubai during a Champions Trophy match. While neither of them officially confirmed the relationship at the time, their presence together at the stadium sparked widespread discussion. In May 2025, the couple further fuelled interest by sharing a photograph together on Instagram, making their bond more visible to fans.

Sophie Shine is a product consultant by profession and hails from Ireland. She studied Marketing and Management at the Limerick Institute of Technology. Currently, she serves as a Vice President at Northern Trust Corporation, a major financial services firm with offices in Abu Dhabi.

Apart from her corporate career, Sophie is also closely associated with the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation. She is an active member of the foundation, which is linked to Dhawan’s sports venture, Da One Sports. The organisation focuses on initiatives related to sports development and social service. During the IPL 2024 season, Sophie was frequently seen alongside Dhawan when he was representing the Punjab Kings, further strengthening public awareness of their relationship.

According to media reports, the wedding is scheduled to take place in the third week of February. The ceremony will be held in the Delhi-NCR region and is expected to be a private affair, attended only by close family members and selected friends.

This will be Dhawan’s second marriage. He was earlier married to Ayesha Mukherjee in 2012. The couple has a son named Zoravar. Following marital differences, Dhawan and Ayesha officially divorced in October 2023.

With the upcoming wedding, Dhawan is set to start a new personal journey, away from the cricket field but still firmly in the public spotlight.
