Karnataka spinner emerges as RCB’s game-changer with record-breaking spells and a powerful comeback season
Women’s Premier League Season 4 has turned into a showcase of Karnataka talent, with Shreyanka Patil emerging as one of the most impactful players of the tournament. The young spinner has delivered a series of consistent and decisive performances, strengthening Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s impressive campaign.
RCB has made a strong start this season, gaining early momentum and positioning itself as a serious contender for a second title. The team’s dominance has been built on balanced performances, with Shreyanka Patil playing a crucial role in changing the course of matches through her spin bowling.
Throughout WPL 4, the 23-year-old has troubled some of the best batters in the competition. Her ability to maintain control, pick wickets regularly, and apply pressure in key moments has made her one of the most reliable bowlers in the tournament. Match after match, she has delivered breakthroughs that have tilted games in RCB’s favour.

Her standout performance came against Gujarat Giants, where she produced a memorable spell. Bowling 3.5 overs, Shreyanka Patil conceded just 23 runs while picking up five wickets. With this effort, she became the youngest bowler in Women’s Premier League history to claim a five-wicket haul, adding a major record to her name.
This season marks a significant comeback for the Karnataka spinner. During the 2025 WPL, she was forced to exit the tournament early due to injury. Recovery took several months, and although she returned to competitive cricket after 11 months in the Caribbean Premier League, her performances there were modest. However, WPL 4 has seen her return at full strength, delivering impactful spells in every match she has played.
Shreyanka Patil, who last represented India in 2024, missed the 2025 ODI World Cup due to injury. With her eyes set on the upcoming T20 World Cup, she has used the WPL platform to stake a strong claim. Her performances have earned her selection for the Australia tour, where she is now pushing for a place in the playing eleven.
