Explosive knocks from Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma and skipper Suryakumar Yadav power India to the second-highest total in T20 World Cup history.
Team India delivered a spectacular batting performance against Zimbabwe in their T20 World Cup clash, piling up a massive 256 for 4 in 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian batters launched an all-out assault, raining sixes and boundaries to dominate the contest from start to finish.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India got off to a flying start thanks to Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter played with positive intent, smashing one boundary and two towering sixes before being dismissed for 24, giving India early momentum.

Following Samson’s departure, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan stitched together a crucial second-wicket partnership. The duo added 72 runs off just 42 deliveries, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. Ishan Kishan scored a fluent 38 before he was caught off Sikandar Raza’s off-spin.
Abhishek Sharma continued his aggressive approach, compiling a brilliant 55 off only 30 balls. His knock included four boundaries and four sixes, putting Zimbabwe’s bowling attack under relentless pressure.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav then walked in and made an immediate impact. He blasted 33 runs off just 13 balls, striking three boundaries and two sixes, further accelerating India’s scoring rate.

The final onslaught came from Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma, who completely dismantled the Zimbabwe bowling in the death overs. The pair added a stunning 84 runs for the fifth wicket in only 31 deliveries. Hardik remained unbeaten on 50, hammering four sixes and two boundaries, while Tilak Varma produced a fearless cameo of 44 not out from just 16 balls, featuring four sixes and three boundaries.
With this extraordinary batting display, India finished on 256 for 4, registering the second-highest total in the history of the T20 World Cup.
